Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet | Official Trailer | Netflix

  • Gepubliceerd op Maand geleden

    Netflix

Breaking Boundaries tells the story of the most important scientific discovery of our time - that humanity has pushed Earth beyond the boundaries that have kept Earth stable for 10,000 years, since the dawn of civilization. The 75-minute film takes the audience on a journey of discovery of planetary thresholds we must not exceed, not just for the stability of our planet, but for the future of humanity. It offers up the solutions we can and must put in place now if we are to protect Earth’s life support systems.

    Coming to Netflix 4 June

Another boundary is also light pollution. More attention should be paid to it, because it has a very big impact on nocturnal animals, astronomy, astrophotography and probably more. Unfortunately its not mentioned in the documentary. I even couldnt find any documentary about lightpollution on netflix. I think its because not a lot of people know that lightpollution even exists.

This is just a trailer, but I’m ugly crying right now, I have lost all hope that humanity will do the right thing and save the environment. It took a pandemic to cut pollution for the length of time that people were willing to isolate and that wasn’t long at all. I became a vegan 7 years ago and that was what it took to realize that a lot/most humans just don’t care, about animal, about the environment and about each other. My opinion, and I understand that it’s just my opinion, is that earth will become mostly uninhabitable in about 50 years. People will be fighting each other to the death over land where it’s not to hot to live, food and water.

We need to replace forestry with hempestry! We can get the same yeild of woodlike fibre 10 times faster than with wood, meaning we can use 1/10th the land needed to supply the forestry industry with the current demand for product. And it would be a superior product whose oils can be used to make fully biodegradable plastic all while acting as an oxygen positive carbon sink. This is the most obvious solution and it's viewed as bad for the economy but really if done right, can create alot of jobs and long lasting non toxic products

We need to realize that this is not just a documentary. This is a message, this is something people need to reflect on and not only click on "continue" and watch another movie, people need to act. This movie presentation doesn't just give insights, it gives arguments, anybody can use those arguments to spread the word, to let other people reflect on themselves and wheretheir future lies. It is in us, we as the consumers of all the products are responsible for the demand. If the demand is smaller there is no point in producing and extracting more.

Nature will find a way to finnish us... Not needed, because of the Truth - we can do better! Humans dont (want?) understand at all. Just a few People can imagine, whats necessary for a healthy World - since more than 50 Years (!!!) we KNOW for sure, that we cant grow endless! When i was 10 Years old, there was 1 idiot under 100...now we have 100 idiots and only 1% Humans, willing to change the whole System: May be just 1% of us all, would stop the greedy takeover from all, our Paradies have to give! Just an Example: People dont stop engine while parking and playing with the Phone - Even Parence! We dont care for our own kids! Thats the sad Truth. All of us know what we do wrong. And nobody f**** cares!!!! Unbelievable - if just a T-Shirt need 1000 L of Water - and we make Millions each day... then send it around the World, and 30% of them just going into waste! And there is a never ending List of Mistakes we do! And did we learn anything? Yes! IT looks like we love to suicide us? Just write this Comments, costs Energiy we dont need. And soon we are 10 Billions!!!! And all starts to live like Americans/Europeans. Need 3-5 Earths to feed our greed. Nature will find a way to finnish us? Not needed, because of the Truth - we can do better!

Really a must-see. It’s less a documentary but rather the visualization and presentation of the research results of Prof. Dr. Johan Rockström with David Attenborough as a presenter. What an honor that I could listen to Johan Rockström when he presented his research work at the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2019! Finally, a documentation that not only highlights the problems but also gives credible solutions options. It seems so easy if the humans weren't so selfish.

The whole "documentary" tone is a bit insane - too many metaphors used to make the audience feel bad about the end of the world now near. If Greenland is going to be free of ice and green again someday, so what. Our planet is changing constantly and always has done so. Yes, we should do our very best to protect our environment and our planet, but don't let's go all nuts about it.

Naomi Klein said the same thing in "This Changes Everything", that it is about "Us". That is misguided anthropocentrism and hubris. It is not about the superior human, it is about all life in which we play a minuscule part. We are not the centre of the universe. This seems to be the common perspective of these documentaries, it is written as a "Human" story. Find some humility.

I am here after watching the movie. I had been waiting for it for long. As one of its audiences i am highly disappointed that this rich movie is not on those platforms that is accessible to maximum number of people. It is definite that Netflix is not a easy reach to many people. This movie is entirely based on facts and data and definitely much effort has been put into it and surely its objective is to reach out to as many people as possible. I myself belong to a environment where many people donot get a subscription for Netflix and even after watching it i neither can share it nor can provoke other people to watch it. That was supposed to be the least i could do BUT not anymore. So i highly request the concerned authorities to please take this matter into consideration. Although these issues are real we are not heard so we need to amplify our voice as much as we can. Please Please do something about it. Its a humble request.🙏

I've heard scientists say we need to plant over a trillion trees over the next 10 years. Of course, oil (petroleum) use must end ASAP too. But forests stabilize climate like nothing else known. Forests are also key to nature's hydrology, the ability of forests to create fresh water in abundance needed to meet increasing demand. Partic forested mountain slopes & hillsides pile up tree transpiration into rainclouds. So clearcut logging must end to maintain canopy. Selection logging, done in the spirit of stewardship, wouldn't highgrade, instead taking smaller trees crowding out root space for larger trees. This would strengthen forest's health, mitigate fire risk, restore habitat to wildlife & open opportunities for humans to harvest or wildcraft the rest of forest's bounty, including foods, medicines, dyes, fibres & latex. The stabilizing effect of forests maintain the fertile conditions allowing us to grow food & for food to grow naturally for wildlife. Trump signed the US onto the Trillion Tree Initiative. Then signed off the Tongass (Arctic refuge) to all manner of rape. Biden has overturned that now, but hasn't, as far as i know, acknowledged the Trillion Tree Initiative, tho he has Reforestation on his .gov fact sheet, yet he has yet to turn it into fact. Please advocate for this for posterity. Also, please see the so called "food chain" as the chain of life, realizing too many links lost causes collapse of the chain. Reforestation yields habitat to give wildlife the breathing space it needs to reproduce. Please consider & reconsider. TY

I am left with a sense of grief after watching and more so of pessimism: humans most often do not change until forced to. Rather than appeal to the world for voluntary change as this and other climate documentaries warn, I think it's more rational to state the obvious: humans in the masses will not solve the climate problems willingly. The solution to climate change IS climate change, and like the eons before us, life will adapt for better or worst.

Facepalm. Anytime someone says "the science is clear" you know it's propaganda. Science doesn't prove anything, science is a process, nothing more, nothing less. As our understanding progresses what we can learn using science as a method changes. Remember when cigarettes were a treatment for asthma? The "science" is never clear because it is done by humans and we continue to learn and advance. Allegedly.

@Skip Bo uh, yeah we don't do that. Farm animals are primarily fed soy, although are also forced to cannibalise by eating the parts of dead animals that aren't considered good enough for humans. I also have it and I will watch, but in my opinion these movies should be available for everyone on every platform, like Youtube, local TV's without any ads. Human beings have lived on this planet for 250,000. During most of that time humans were in concert with nature building ancient civilizations and religions that were centered on being int tune with nature. In JUST the last 500 years of our history as a species, Western culture has destroyed, our oceans, our rivers, our air, our forests, the wild life and the entire ecology. This destruction first took place in Europe. Then through SETTLER COLONIALISM this mad project destroyed every other corner of our planet.
